Dublin Metro Route

As you all know, the decision as to whether to chose the DCU route for the metro (the middle route) will have a large influence on the long term success of DCU. Many people in Dublin don't even consider DCU when filling out their CAO forms as they are planning on staying at home while going to college and DCU it is too far away from them (and public transport around Dublin is crap without a metro).

Does anyone know a good way of lobbying politicians to get the DCU route approved?

It looks almost certain that whatever route is chosen, DCU and Ballymun will be on it. The government would never allow a metro route that didn't go through Ballymun and it's hard to avoid DCU in that case :-)

What's also looking more likely is a hybrid route taking in the eastern route for the first part and then the central route for the west which means there'll be a train station on the maynooth line making it easier for anyone commuting from there to DCU.

From someone in DCU, that has got to be one of the most ridiculous statements I have ever heard. Who is this idiot?

Yes the metro is a good idea, but that is not an argument! Look at the geographic breakdown of DCU students before you post similar messages!

The metro has sweet fu*k all got to do with the long term success of the college sunshine!

He's not really wrong. A lot of people, especially in south and west dublin would have a hard time commuting to DCU. Trinity, with its central location and UCD with the 46A and actually-good QBC network are far faster and easier to get to than DCU. It shouldn't be an issue for for a lot of people it is.
