CNBC has been replaced on ntl by Living tv! A message is scolling across the screen saying that it is only available on digital.

This is so annoying, how am I expected to watch Leno and Conan now? For Pete's sake, why are they messing with the package like this, forcing us to go digital.

19 East analogue. Its not cable, nor is it going to be provided for free, but you can get Eurosport International (in English) and CNBC Europe there in analogue, FTA. Or in digital, with no English on Eurosport, FTA.

Unfort I live in a flat so can't have a dish. Used have ntl digital but didn't think it was worth an extra €10 a month, been buying DVD's instead. May have to reconsider now though.

Can't say I'm overjoyed about LivingTV - at least twenty episodes of Will and Grace and approxemetly 100 episodes of Most Haunted a week...okay, so I may have exagerated a bit there, but it does rely on a small number of programmes...I'm not in its target demographic anyways, and I still can get my fix of CNBC on digital.

For weeks on they told us about the impending arrival of Channel 6 with a scrolling message on MTV, however they couldn't be arsed telling us about the removal of CNBC and are now only telling after it has happened.

I am extremely angry about this and will be withholding me direct-debit payments to them if they don't resolve it, f**k em!

I guess we'll see Irish advertising opt-outs on Living TV in the near future.

The only reason they had a scrolling message on MTV was due to the fact that you had to retune your TV to get MTV. No retune required for CNBC/LivingTV....no message.

You better read NTL's T+C's(section 12) before you get cut off for not paying your bill.

no reason to be chased down by a collection agency. they are no doubt contractually obliged to now provide Living on analogue so withholding your direct debit will have 0 effect

I understand your anger but withholding the direct debit won't make them change their minds I think.

Was doing a quick search this morning and Living TV is on NTL analogue in Galway City ... also there are City TV and a kind of multi-view screen. Is this permanent or tests anyone?

LivingTV is on 479.000 MHZ in Waterford if anyone is looking for it.

Besides the TV channels & cable text, there are only a multiscreen and a second channel which contains the same image as the centre of the multiscreen. We dont have City Channel in waterford yet.

HOw can anyone honestly be thie enraged about CNBC? I'm fairly sure the majority of tv viewers would watch an entertainment channel (living tv) more than a business channel (CNBC) If you need it for work, you'd have digital and all the other channels

I reckon that's probably the closest to the truth, CNBC and Discovery were the only channels on analogue without Irish advertising opt-outs... expect Discovery to be going off analogue soon too if recent rumours about Five and some other channels are true...

Alternatively it could have something to do with the NTL takeover of Telewest... LivingTV is owned by Flextech Television which is a division of Telewest Broadband...

Anyway the appearance of LivingTV probably explains why you had to re-tune MTV in rather than MTV going straight into the CNBC slot...

Sigh.... NTL Ireland and NTL UK are two different companies. They are no longer related.

Can we now look forward to UPC Ireland providing the same basic package in analogue as provided in Swords, Malahide, Maynooth,Newbridge....the vast majority of the package in English plus at least one German language channel, a Polish channel, a French one, a Spanish one an Italian....etc.
The former Chorus has provided French and German channels in the basic in some towns for the past fifteen years.....

Even after all that people must not have seen the MTV mesage as they had a scrolling message across BBC1's 6 O' Clock news yesterday and I noticed it switching to BBC1 at 7.45pm approx

I would guess it would depend on the tuner in the TV as to what frequency works best. 479.000 actually works far better for me, So I guess we are both correct.:D

Sorry, it's cool man... got the Liberty Global takeover of NTL Ireland mixed up with the Telewest one while researching *shrug* Anyway the logic is somewhat the same, Chorus / Liberty Global had a deal to broadcast Flextech Television channels and no doubt from their point of view it makes sense to bump a niche channel like CNBC for a more mainstream entertainment channel like Living...

A multiscreen? Haven't seen that apppear in a very long time - Cablelink had one in Dublin circa 1993 or thereabouts.

    Merged the two threads.

Nope, I expect that you can kiss good bye to all these channels. They will probably make way for the NTL analogue lineup and extra channels on Digital (same as NTL digital lineup).

I hope not and wouldn't expect so. NTL needs to maintain a balance in it's channel mix, at least one doc, sports, music and news channel. Discovery is one of the most popular multichannel channels and would be a painful to lose.

OK, NTL, we get the message. It's been about three weeks now since Living TV appeared in place of CNBC - can you please remove the scrolling message now?

Five months later...... and that scrolling re-tune message is STILL appearing on Paramount!!
