Has anyone got COD2, BIA, or MOHPA working with the GeForce FX5200 PCI graphics card. Stuck with Dell PC (no AGP), already playing COD, MOHAA no problems on GeForce2 MX400. Not too concerned with the low res / poor performance, I accept this as the PCI limitation. Looking for cheap PCI card to play above mentioned. Price below seems acceptable

    Any comments greatly appreciated.

Havent tested it myself (as I played the game in DX9 mode) but the DX7 mode in CoD 2 makes the game almost graphically identical to CoD 1 so if that runs okay on your PC then so should CoD2 in DX7 mode (you can always cut more details if need be).

Never played BIA so I cant say, MOHPA I did play wasnt too impressed with the performance in parts of the game wasnt that great a game either.

Dabs have a PCI FX5500 which is about the fastest PCI card I've actually seen for sale but they say they are awaiting delivery of stock.

Pc World have a Nvidia 6200 128mb PCI - directx 9 compatiable - for about 70 euro. Might be your best chance....

Yeah I saw that in PC World before Havok, much better bet! Those 6200s are good cards. Some can be opened up to a 6600 I tihnk ? Don't quote me on that though...

What's the rest of your system like - CPU/RAM etc?
Given that its only got a geforce 2 MX, it must be pretty old, say first generation pentium 4, about 1.6ghz?

Those 6200's didnt last long on the market they were replaced very quickly by a new core that couldn't be soft modded.

delboypf when you get the 6200 run Rivatuner and see if the core it reports is NV43 if so you can softmod it to a 6600 if it is a NV44 then you cant softmod it.

If it is a 6200 PCI card then thats about the best you can get it seems, is it called a BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 6200 PCI as a Google search turned up that as the only PCI card I could see.

Stephen: Its a 1.8GHz with 512MB RAM, the MX card came later, not standard with box

8T8: Thanks, I'll check it out and come back to you if I can modify. The card in your link is the same as PC World

I used to have no AGP slot on my old computer and was forced to use the PCI slot. I would suggest getting maybe 256mb card for PCI. Make sure you have pleanty of RAM in your system and it should play no problem.

My old system had a 1.2 Celeron with 512mb of Ram and I had a Diamond 256mb PCI video card and it ran like a dream. Graphics were great and I could play demanding games like DOOM ect with out any problems.

It was sweet for the spec of my system.

I don't think you know what you are talking about - Doom 3 wouldn't even run on a 1.2 Celeron let alone "Like a dream"

Either that or your system is an awful lot better then you realise...:D

Yes it did run on my old PC. Requirments for doom are as follows

    P4 1.5 Ghz or equivalent
    384 MB Ram
    64 MB 3D card(certain GPUs. Lowest is GeForce 3/GeForce 4 MX)

Even though I did not have a Pentium, it ran on my celeron. I had to create a log in on my computer just for Doom with everything turned off including Internet access and nothing running but the game. When The game was running I had to turn off a lot of options. Granted it did not run like it would on my system now, it did run, and ran good for my spec.

    Take it if you will.

PS. I do know what I am talking about when it come to computers and networks my friend.

Yes but you said "It ran like a dream" - so what you actually meant was "It looked like crap but ran smoothly" :D

There is no way you'd get a satisfactory Doom 3 game from a 1.2 Celeron...no matter how much ram or what gfx card you had!

When you say a game runs like a dream, it usually implies the game looks beautiful as well as playing the same...I think the use of this phrase is what caused confusion!
