    Hi

Anyone know where I can find out satellite stations showing the US Masters golf this weekend.

It's on BBC2, RTE 2 and Golf Channel via Sky but there may be German/Italian stations showing it.

Also, is it possible to pick up feeds coming across? What equipment would I need?

    Thanks
    S

It's reported on satdudez.org that Fox Sports Middle East is FTA on 16E at the mo and are due to carry the Masters.

    Fox Sports Middle East on 16ºE 11021 H 2894 7/8

That station has a lot of golf - seems to cover the US tour every week.

How can I pick this up? Have a SKY box (newbie)

You need a FTA receiver and at least an 80cm dish. The Sky dish is too small, points to wrong place in the sky and the Digibox "other channels"/"Add Channels" won't the SR 2894. The Digbox ONLY does SR 27,500 and 22,000. SR can be any number from 1,000 to 40,000, though below 1500 is rare and above 30,000 is rare.

    Ta Watty.

I assume I just get a local installer to do the work for me. Would this be a common request?

If the local guy ONLY does Sky, unlikely do be able.

If the local guy does motorised and continental systems, no problem. See Sticky and ICDGopedia there might be installer listed for your area.

If you can use a drill to mount bolts/bracket on wall competently, then you can buy a Sat meter under 40 Euro and pester folks here on help to DIY and save 100 to 200.

Most installers prefer to install gear they supply. Especially for motorised. If you want to hunt feeds I recommend 88cm to 110cm dish and Moteck motor. Install costs about twice as much and motor 100 Euro.

Bigger than 110cm (1.1m) and the dish is MUCH more expensive and install much more expensive (needs lots of concrete) and Motor or Jack needs its own 36V supply (much more expensive motor). With very large dish (> 3m) you may need an Elevation jack controller too.

I will warn you about how the US Masters is televised before you commit to anything, slumped. That is, if your sole motiviation is the Master coverage. Other wise, what the others here say will cover you for the remaining weeks in the year.

The Masters organisers strictly control the coverage of the tournament, so you will not be able to get any more pictures of the event than we already get over here.

The organisers limit live coverage to 3 to 3.5 hours for the first 3 days, and then upto 4.5 hours on the final day. Its not like the British Open or the TPC at Sawgrass that you get to see all 18 holes of everyone playing.

The BBC et al are restricted to what CBS/USA network broadcast, and we get to see all that they show.

Thanks for that. Pity Hootie and CBS don't show more.

Looks like I will cancel my Sky Sports sub and invest in watty's suggestion above for US Tour Golf at the weekends.

There is no particular G'tee of Golf on any feed. Of course with Motorised CNBC is free on 19E and all BBC free on 28E. Any feeds of sport are simply icing.

You may find some Turkish or Arab station showing some Sport FTA you want to watch.

If you're intending to go down the feedhunting route, you might consider investing in a DVB-S PCI card as a fair percentage of the feeds are in a transmission format (4.2.2) which 99% of receivers can't handle. The cards are fairly cheap and if you have a VGA card with Video out, you can also view the picture on a TV.
