Lmao. Personally i think its an excellent game.

In fact, it is my favourite game by far.
I take it oyu play The frozen throne?
If you ever need any help with any aspect of the game, let me know.
I would like some good irish players to exist apart from the few of us!

I recently bought WC3 again, after having lost my old disks and sign up details. What a game!

Playing RT can be a bit **** though, if you get one person on a team with a level a lot higher than the rest he'll just say "FFS n00bs" and quit, wrecking for everyone...

Personally I think it's an excellent game.

How about we get some games organised ?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

After the exams my good man. which start in three two or three weeks.

High level means nothing anymore, for the most part. Also, if somebody quits, I will control his team. :)
AT's are the best route with maybe a boards solo league. :

Personally I think it's an excellent game.

    (or was it neo)?
I laughed my ass off at that.
Wish I could have been there.

Ya ive played frozen throne of course, its excellent. Would there be enough interest to have a 2v2 lan competition in ireland?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,279 ✭✭✭DemonOfTheFall

I don't think so. Every lan I've been to just has 50% of people playing CS, 40% of people playing Unreal Tournament and the other 10% of people wishing the rest would get some variety!

im talking about a lan just for warcraft, i got 8 people that would go to such an event, would anyone else be interested? we could have a 12 hour lan with a tournament of frozen throne and get prizes etc etc..

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Ye sure. I'd be up for winning some prizes. ;)

Personally I think it's an excellent game.

It does have many MP flaws though, even if it is *relatively* balanced. Nothing beats calling down starfall in the middle of a battle though... :D

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Oh to be a noob like you again. :D
The game is practically perfectly balanced now. People complain because they cannot beat a certain strategy/race. This is their fault.

Oh and storm bolt beats it to a pulp. :)

    I'm a HU whore. ;)

how does the end of june in dublin sound for a wc3 tourney?

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

No idea atm..I know I'll be in dublin on the 13th or so for opeth and my birthday is on the 23rd, alwas a good time to pop up. :)
However, I have no idea, especially of numbers.

Personally i think its an excellent game, and I only started playing it this week. I didn't get the frozen throne though. Would you say it's worth the 15g?

I dunno if I'd be up for a LAN, being the huge newb that I be.

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Well worth the money. It is far far better online and is more balanced. More characters etc.

Personally i think its an excellent game.

Personally, I think it's not bad....

    I have frozen throne

Played it online once... got called a n00b about 20 times... left

Admitedly I am pretty crap at it though... it's just so damn hard

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Not bad? Personally I think it is an excellent game.I had to :P
You can't be expected to be brilliant at it at the start unlike some other games. When starting off do solos or people will get angry as they tend to lose in team games due to new players.

yeah I'm thinking of starting playing maybe wc3 or possibly sc ftw? :)

Is there much of an Irish community for it??

Found my CDkey for starcraft and BroodWar a few days ago and have been playing it online a bit, real good fun, but damn hard, generally sticking to noob servers til I get to grips at playing other people in it. Being able to trounce the AI doesnt seem to help that much in on-line play in starcraft :)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

Nor in warcraft. I can beat the AI on insane with two orc heroes and that is it. :)

Nope. I can prove it with replays when I get warcraft on my comp again. I may need a lot of potions though. :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,821 ✭✭✭18AD

Yeah! Starcraft. I haven't played in a long while now. I kept playing the reliable 3v3 top v bottom games. It got a bit boring after a few hundred wins
And the UMS games were great fun.

I remember there were a couple of people playing from Ireland. Not many though. I think me and my friends made up more than half the Irish players.

To keep on topic. Warcraft. Personally I think it is an excellent game.

You know 18Ad I agree with what you said about personally thinking it is an excellent game. :D

I remember starcrft before I got warcraft, what an ace game.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 97 ✭✭sAid

Bit of a noob question :D but,..

what do ye use to search for games??
Like does Starcraft have its own browser, do you use all seeing eye or just look for them on IRC etc.??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,821 ✭✭✭18AD

Starcraft uses Battle.net. It goes straight into it from the multiplayer menu screen. When you're in, you'll be in a chatroom type place and you can browse through all the games waiting for people to join.

I hope that answers your question.

i love the simplicity of battlenet, you just log on and get a battle instantly :)

Yeah, it's great. I found the warcraft version a bit weird after playing starcraft for so long. I kinda prefer the way it's set up in starcraft, with the list of open games.

Either way, it's a great system.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 97 ✭✭sAid

sounds cool I might try out some starcraft over the summer $

    :D

Essential for any modern RTS game to be successful tbh.

I'm still upset over finding my starcraft discs cracked. I'd had them both since almost when they were released. :(

I can't remember how teh starcraft battle.net works. How is it different from Warcrafts method?
I would have thought warcrafts method would be exactly what anybody could want?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,821 ✭✭✭18AD

The starcraft battle.net is like the warcraft custom game screen. With all the games and names in a list and when you join the game it's got the list of players and you wait till the game is started. So if someone joins with a crap record you can hoof them out of the game before you start it :p

Ah, as I thought, that system doesn't make sense for a properly run league. It has to be random with the sytem matching up teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

The way it displays your stats when you join a server means most hosts pretty much fix games, and put everyone with half decent stats on their team, so the host team wins 90% of games, which is a bit of a sh*tter for when your starting out, I usually host my own games and try to balance them as best I can, playing 3 people each with over 400 wins on a team with 2 others who havent got a total of 100 games between you is not very fun, or exciting.

Do any of you play dota at all?
I've stopped playing regular war3 and just play dota.

WC3 is good...... Haven't played the expansion and haven't played it online. Haven't played any game online since Delta Force: Land Warrior years and years ago. Still running on a 56k modem ;)

  • Moderators, Science, Health & Environment Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 60,113 Mod ✭✭✭✭Tar.Aldarion

You can play on a 56k modem, you will get some lag in big battles. The expansion and online play are what make it great. :)

A silly question but for the mods like DOTA or the Dwares Campaign can these be downloaded straight for the Apple Mac or do I need to get specific mods for mac only or some kind of patch??
Personally I think Warcraft is an excellent game!
