Did you realise how jerky everyone actually was in school or how you were only ever friends with people cos you HAD to be and not cos you wanted to be?

Yeah, it's a really strange vibe in school. You just don't get that again in later life. Well, unless you go to prison perhaps. The way many Irish schools are set up seems to be more suited to a fascist state than a democracy tbh.

No. If I didn't like someone in school, I generally didn't interact with them much. So what friends I made there I am still in touch with, and I have picked up a few acquaintences from those days since.

I realised when I left school exactly how big a crowd of asshats the girls in my year were. I'm not in touch with anyone from secondary school, and I prefer things that way.

not really, I think I hung around with maybe twenty guys in my year, five or so were friends of mine and the rest were friends of theirs. I still consider those five guys friends, though as seems to be the case when you get older I don't see half as much of them as I'd like to.

If your point is that the majority of people you're in school with are asshats, I'm sorry to be the one to break this to you, but you'll find that throughout the rest of your life. Though as you get older, people do get better about being civil to each other even if they think you're the asshat.

There's always going to be people you don't get on with wherever you go but I think that the majority of people I went to school with were really nice and my good friends from school will be my friends for life

No I realised while I was there.
or how you were only ever friends with people cos you HAD to be and not cos you wanted to be?
Why would you 'have' to be friends with anyone? Were you running for class president or something?

Yeah but I've also realised what good true friends I had also!

I still hang out with people from my secondary school and I finished there 3 years ago. Its all the luck of the draw wether there are people you click with or not.

Course having said that 90% of the school were gackbags. you hung out with them or got the crap beaten out of you.

Up until third year I had a fair few school friends, some who I didn't really like but they were just part of the group.

In 5th year I got to know a guy who had done transition year, we got on well and he shared my new found attitude towards they type of people you don't really like, I was still friendly with those people, but didn't waste my time hanging around with them... I'm still in touch with that guy and one other friend I've had since 1st year; the rest I've lost touch with generally, bar one or two.
Funny enough a lot of friends I still keep in touch with from school were never even in my year.

Kinda lost touch with most of the people i went to school with. There are a few i'd cross the street to avoid, and some when i meet them all they ever say is 'well what are you doing now?? and im like none of your business but hey thats me i find some of them are always fishing for information so they can go back and say 'hey i met so & so, guess what shes doing now??

I guess im a bit paranoid about these people ( some of which are like your local newspapers for gossip)

i've still got a few friends from secondary school, and some from primary school. a good few of the lads in my year weren't the type of people i'd be 'long term' friendly with, but some are still good friends. especially alot of the lads that did transition year with me, and its been a few years since that.
