Intel GMA?

I'm looking at this

But wanted dedicated Graphics? What's Intel GMA? Do laptops come with
7200rpm dirves?

Any help or information on other lappies wouldn't be muchly appreciated.

Intel GMA is shared graphics, it shares memory with the system ram.

Most laptops ship with 4200/5400 rpm drives, mainly because they use less battery power, though some of the high performance( and more expensive) latops do ship with 7200 rpm.

if you want dedicated graphics you may want to, look for laptops that have ati or nvidia graphics(excluding ATI Xpress 200 which is shared as well), like this one

Good call on that amd box it outclasses that intel I linked to, I might just get that one, although I'm not too sure about the screen... I've seen a few SXGA ones and like them. Did you notice that the cheapo Hp lappies have x-black screens?!

My HpDV8173 has the xpress200m and it has 128mb dedicated graphics ram. There is also a bios setting to utilise an additional 128mb of shared main memory.

i have a compaq 2205 and it only has shared memory, it uses 32-128 of the system memory, which is set in the bios.
