Thinking of getting one of these soon enough. Do I need to convert videos to put on it or can I just drag in any type I want and it will play?

    You need to convert first.

Ahhh jasus. Is it a semi long rendering process? Can it convert most of the usual file types?
Also, has anyone got the video out lead to play stuff on your TV? IS it any good?

if i were you i would get the zen vision m.

ive putr avi's, mpegs and divx's on this without the need to convert. also, the video output to a tv is twice the resolution of the ipod. the only down side (which i dont care about) is that it is about as thick as a 60gb ipod and it is only 30gb.

the screen is also a good deal better side by side.

I must agree with cormhag here. The Zen Vision:M is a substantially superior machine to the iPod.

Have to go for the iPod. I want to be able to use it with my Pioneer stereo and it's only iPod compatible.

What, the stereo system doesn't have a 'line-in' or 'aux' port?

Just got the ipod video myself, dont know much about the zen vision. Once the videos are mp4/mpeg 4 they wil go on no problem and converting using the software out there isnt bad at all. Converted an ep of scrubs in around 5 or so mins and downloaded alot of family guy etc which didnt need converting.. cucusoft is a good converter but for the full version is around 30 dollars...

Yeah it has a line in Bard but I don't just want a line in. With the Pioneer stereo I can access the ipod and control it though the stereo, select playlists, skip tracks, have the track title in the display and stuff like that. No way I would want to reach for the ipod to change track when I can just press a button on the steering wheel. It's just like having a CD I'll never have to change.

    Hi Guys,
Just a quick question, is cucusoft the only converter that can be used for converting movies/videos's to play on an IPOD????

No, there's loads of them. Videora is probably the one most people use.
