How much would one want to bring on a trip around the world, when i say around the world, i mean here - australia and back again (no US), with lots of time in Asia, and a willingness to work in Oz if needed. Maybe, anytime up to a year? I'm thinking maybe €10,000?

I'd say that sounds about right. If you were able to guess how long exactly you'd want to spend in Australia, how long in Asia, and how much hopping around you want to do etc. you'd be able to come up with a more accurate figure.

You could go to this website http://www.lonelyplanet.com/worldguide/destinations/ to work out the rough cost of things. Then using those figures try and figure out a realistic daily budget that would fit in with your plans. To get it into Euro use this website: www.xe.com

If you're not working and only travelling, I'd reckon in Oz you'd need at least EUR 60 per day to get by and in lots of Asia you'll be able to live like a king for about EUR 20 a day. Some people like their comforts/beer/etc. more than others though so it can vary a lot from person to person.
