Hey! Don't hijack this thread southerner! :D

Of course people who are not from Dublin can attend too, the problem is that the "go-ahead" might be given at very short notice if the weather turns out unpredictable.

yeah.. I'd hate to be most of the 3 hour drive to Dublin only for the thing to be cancelled... I'm afraid that would lead to massive loss of blood for one unfortunate photographer within arms length.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

Yeah and we don't want that to happen.... :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,918 ✭✭✭Steffano2002

Well because I would like to go early in the morning (opening time preferably: 10:30) and because I have a massive p!ss-up with work on Friday night, I'm going to have to vote for Sunday! ;)

Sunday would probably be a bit quieter and therefore the animals might be a bit more relaxed.
Plus i think sunday gives everyone more time to get there ,less traffic.

I vote for sunday ,even if i do have to microwave my dinner when i get home.

    *BUMP*

So how's the weather looking for this weekend? :D I'm ok for Sunday 11:30am at the earlier discussed meeting point.

Again, assuming the weather is gonna be alright. Please confirm here if you're joining so we know who to wait for.

The weather looks like buckets again.

Maybe we should all meet in Iraq or something and get loads of journalistic photos ,we probably wouldn't get any animals like in the zoo but at least it wouldn't be raining :D

lets not cast any aspersions on the weather at all until sunday morning ,karma always wins.

Just take it that the weather is going to be bliss and the pictures are going to be prime.

Ireland isn't ireland because we use the pound.

I'll be up for it anyways, I'm staying up here this weekend, but I only have my 1000Fn - My Da took the 300 for a christening.

    Hopefully the weather'll brighten up!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

Yeah I'm up for it too, should be alright hopefully. Tomorrow I'll be city centre for a bit, trying to capture some nice candid's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

I'm wearing a blue nylon jacket and have a lowepro slingshot camera bag. Ah by that time I'll probably hold my camera with 70-300mm sigma lens. Who's coming along?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭EireRoadUser

I'll go along ,hoping it will be cloudy with breaks .
Hope we got what rain we were getting today.:(

EDIT : How much is the entrance fee ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,624 ✭✭✭✭Fajitas!

I'll be there too all going to plan. Entrance fee is €15 I think, but don't quote me on that!

Now...One stupid question...How the feic do I get to the zoo?

    Any buses like?

I'll be wearing a black leather jacket, NCAD hoodie and a Tenba bag!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭EireRoadUser

I'm not sure whether to bring my tripod ,I'll be driving so it's no hassle .
I could loan it to someone if they want while we are there ??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,297 ✭✭✭joolsveer

    FYI
Parking may be a problem as there is a BUPA run in the park today. It starts at noon.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭EireRoadUser

Jools ,thanks for that you just reminded me about the fact that I can't actually bring park my van in the park as it's a commercial vehicle.

Is there somewhere secure to lock a bike ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

Yeah I won't be bringing mine, if I do I'll have to put my camera bag in a rucksack with the tripod... not very handy. Fajitas will bring a mini-tripod, but if you have a car...by all means bring the tripod :).

Oh ignore my last post, didn't read this... I'll be going by bike, there's plenty of lampposts to lock your bike on.

make sure to post loadsa pics from it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

It was great, Eireroaduser and Fajitas are nice fellows and I think we took a couple of nice shots. Only when we were leaving the park around 3pm it started getting grey and cold. I still have 40-50 pics to go through from yesterday and I don't know how much I have from today, but I'll post a couple of pics asap.
    *offtopic*
Oh...and I got a puncture on the way back, barely made it back home before my tyre was all flat  Annoying because I just replaced the inner tyre yesterday. All that glas on the roads here...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭EireRoadUser

Cheers dimy , I hope we can do another shooting again.
Maybe the next time I can bring the car ,I couldn't today because someone else was using it.
Fajitas is a wealth of imformation on photography ,fair play to him.
Again thanks to you both :)

Dimy , I was stuck in the park for nearly an hour trying to get out.

Ah, thanks for that last line, that makes me feel a little bit better about my puncture :D Seriously though... it's fun how you pass all those cars on the quays and through the city centre with your bike :). Just all that glass on the street....

Oh and agreed about Fajitas! And thanks for trying out his 10-20mm lens, now I definitely want that one!

We should do something again soon, would be great if you have a car available, we can go into Wicklow (Glendalough is great!). But Howth/Malahide is good as well and easy accessable by Dart. Or Greystones/Bray of course.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 650 ✭✭✭EireRoadUser

No problem ,glendalough is only around the corner sure.
The handy thing about a car is when it rains ,we have a base for the tripods and stuff.

Sure blackrock would be almost on the way to there ,might be able to drop off at bray and see what the view from bray head is lilke and then on to greystones and glendalough.

    Sure see what happens.

Heres a couple ,open to criticism but i know they're not great . Only learn't from fajitas half way through not to rely on autofocus all the time.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 709 ✭✭✭Dimy

Oh I like the Red Panda shot... I think it's better than any of the ones I took... they were moving so quick. Very nice DOF...

Here's a quicky from me then, forum members, meet EireRoadUser and Fajitas:

I'm the one on the right, just in case you were wondering!

Today was great fun, really enjoyed it. Great shots from what I've seen of you two so far! Hopefully I'll have some decent ones when I get them back from the Developers!

Glad I could give you some advice EireRoadUser! And Dimy...Go for the 10-20! You know you need it :P

We'll have to do it again, as ye were saying. Looking forward to see more of your shots when you get them up!
