I need help to find the latest driver for my graphics card. I recently learned that not removing the old driver before installing the new one can cause problems so i'd decided to see if that would help stop you gaming problems.

I have an ATI radeon X300 series.
    I've been to here http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html
and can't make sense of it.

What exactly are you having a problem with? You just linked to the site that you get them from :/ Select your OS, select what you want (the catalyst drivers in this case) and download them.

What do i download, just the catalyst 1/3 or 3/3. i downloaded the first one and installed it.
Also was wondering, does not removing the old driver before installing the new one affect gaming?

The first download i.e 1 of 3 is just the Microsoft .NET Framework download, its a program you need to install before you download the drivers. You may already have this installed anyway. The 2nd download 2 of 3 is the drivers etc youll definetely need these, you probably wont need the 3 of 3 download. Try the 2nd one and see if it sorts it.

It also recommends to have windows xp service pack 2 installed. If you right click on the my computer icon and choose properties it will tell you what service pack you have installed. Assuming your using xp that is!

search for "cat uninstaller" on ati.com
run that, reboot and then install your new drivers

this seems alot more awkward than the simple patching technique that nvidia use:(

You should still remove all traces of old drivers, Nvidia or ATI

Is there any program that can remove the old driver or do you just (like i did) remove the driver from control panel. I installed the 2/3 and it's works now.
