Go to Control Panel - display - settings - advanced - click on the tab for you graphics card - make sure it's set to Pal. I'd guess it's set to NTSC.

Not to sure to be honest on this one but at least heres something to try until someone who knows more replies.

The problem is most likely caused by PAL setting not being set properly as feyfla said.

Go to Control Panel - display - settings - advanced and in there somewhere will be an option to change to PAL. I dont know what graphics card you have so its hard to know exactly where to find it. Root around with the settings in there until you find it and change it to pal. It probably wont be visible on the first page so you might need to give a good root around for example here is how someone would change the settings for an Intel Graphics Card on Windows XP.

Display properties; Settings menu; Advanced; Intel Graphics menu; Graphics Properties; Devices menu; Television menu; then change NTSC to PAL

If i knew what your os was and your graphics card i might be able to find the correct path.

Also ive heard moving the screen resolution to 800x600 is better when watching dvds, i know this wont look good on the laptop but it will be an improvement when watching the dvd. For a fujitsu i think you have to press the fn button on your keyboard and the f5 key simultanousely to get into tv out mode, you may have to press this more than once. This wont solve your problem just another suggestion Fn+F5 1 or more times.

    Hope this helps!

The problem is either as said before it's outputting NTSC and not PAL, which you will be able to change somewhere on your PC's graphics settings - it has to be there somewhere. Also check if your TV has an option for switching to NTSC - but it'll be crap for watching PAL videos.

Otherwise it could be that your TV does not support s-video via the SCART socket you are using - if there's more SCART sockets try the other ones (try different AV modes on your TV too - it's often designated by the AV symbol with an "S" or just "Y/C"), or plug it into the s-video socket if there is one. If you have no luck with that, your TV doesn't support s-video at all - you'll have to plug it in via composite video (yellow phono jacks) - if you were not supplied with these you'll have to get an s-video -> composite adaptor. Alternatively there may be an option on your graphics settings on the laptop to output composite over s-video - this should work with your current cables.

What fixed the problem, would be nice to know for someone else who comes across the same problem and searches this thread, did you find the PAL settings???

I changed a number of things so couldnt really pin point what exactly fixed it but ill tell u all them i can remember! The tv settings on the display menu did'nt appear until it was actually conected to the tv so i couldnt change the PAL or NTSC settings until they were hooked up together. I then made sure it was on PAL as suggested here and then switched to my second scart entry on my tv which made it come up fuzzy, but with some colour and then switched to AV S ( as also said from someone here ) and it came on in full colour and am now just changing the screen size and resoultion to wat i want. I know thats not a very clear discription but if someone wants to know something in particular they can PM me and ill try help. Aidan
