It's a terrible idea. It uses the users Bandwidth to redistribute by P2P.

Putting a module into a Digibox (a slot available) on Sky + USB or Ethernet for Flim downloads makes more sense.

The SW eats your BB cap and is hard to remove.

It is a STUPID service for a Satellite supplier to promote.

The service is very poor. Firstly, as watty mentions, the software uses P2P technology which means sky can use your PC and bandwidth at will to upload movies you have in your catalogue to other users (cuts down on their bandwidth costs). The software installs P2P technology which runs automatically on PC boot up and runs CONSTANTLY. The last time I checked, this is not mentioned in the EULA. You have to manually shut it down EACH TIME you restart if you don't want it to run. When you uninstall the sky by broadband program, it does not remove this P2P software. The software remains and boots normally with the PC, running constantly. The actually sky by broadband software is a little dodgy to say the least, chucking up error codes at random, for no apparent reason.

Aswell as shabby software, all of the movies are all heavily DRM'd and locked to the PC they are downloaded to (so you can't, say, download to your PC and shift it across to your laptop to watch it there). The downloads are all automatically deleted after 30 days, regardless of whether you watch them or not. You can't watch them on your TV or burn them to DVD, and the quality in terms of picture quality / bitrate is only average. Some films take an age to download and simply crawl through.

Hopefully it could improve - if the software was a lot better, they didn't secretly install P2P software on your system and the catalogue of films and freedom of use was a lot better, it could be a pretty good complimentary service for sky.

Help. I installed this a couple of weeks really just for watching footie highlights. I haven't downloaded anything yet but from what you guys are saying I definately shouldn't either.
I'm not too well up on P2P but I should get rid of this....right?

Just checked my Firewall and I found a "Deliver Service Manager" program set itself up as a server so removed that access for a start!

KService and Khost in your services should be deleted. They are also located in your startup files. Run>>>>msconfig>>>>startuptab, uncheck the Khost and Kservice boxes.

Also if you are still unsure, I installed peerguardian 2 and that blocks BSkyB

    www.silentrunners.org

This tool (a vbs file) will identify even many stealth programs that have installed and start when you power up or log on.

Typically reboot in safe mode and delete all the registry entrys and files mentioned. Occasionally it marks Netopia Keyboard drivers as "Infected" etc when they arn't, deleting something like that from registry will disable your keyboard!

I have found it 100% effective in identification of Adware, trojans, keyloggers, porn dialers, malware etc etc for manual removal.
