Cant you just pay more for the extra lugage? But the extra flight is probably cheaper....

I'll offer a free flight ticket from Dublin airport to Paris Beauvais, more likely on Saturday the 22nd of April at 6.25am, to an honest person who would have no luggage to check in but would check-in mine (I'll be on the same flight obviously).
I am moving out of Ireland and have loads of stuff to move with me, which exceed the luggage allowance for the flight !

If someone is interested, please contact me asap!
I havent made any bookings yet.

    Thanks !

And how would this person get home from paris. Assuming somebody was willing to travel with you, this person would obviously not be staying any length of time due to having no luggage.

So unless you are willing to pay for return flights, I say you wold be better off paying the luggage excess.

    ah... buy a ticket?

This could be usefull for a couple going away for a few days that would only need 1 bag between them anyway, they pay for 3 flights instead of 4...

All very well intentioned and above board I'm sure but what is the person to say when asked at the check-in "Is this your luggage and have you packed it yourself" ?

Why, would you go out of your way for somebody where it was going to end up costing you money.

I guess this scenario would work ok, but I am guessing it would take a bit of planning.

Fair point, How would one know whats contained in the luggage?

You know it's highly illegal to carry someone elses luggage on a flight?

Jesus... If someone was planning a trip like this it wouldn't be out of the way would it. Looks like the article on the front of the Independant hit the nail on the head....

You could simply un-pack the luggage and repack it yourself. Then you could buy it for 5c and sell it back when you land. Or do a runner with the luggage and receipt !

Sounds like a whole loada messing to me.
It couldnt be that much stuff as the limit per person is somewhere around 20kg as far as I know.
For all the hassle and messing involved just pay the extra money and get on with it. You are moving after all, surely you envisaged that a move abroad is going to cost X amount of money so stop trying to take ridiculous short cuts and just include it in your 'moving abroad budget' if you have one, if you havent well......just pay it man.

Its going to cost like 70 euro for a one way flight to beauvais and with ryan air your limit is like 15kg. Surly it would be cheaper to get ups etc to deliver it to your new address.

Only a small few get this?

Dodge guy gets a Complete unknown to carry HIS wares.
Complete unknown gets stopped somewhere along the journey.
What's this in yer bag? asks Customs
Complete unkown says I think it's icing sugar.
Icing sugar is of 'high' quality.
Complete unknown gets done for posession of 'high' quality icing sugar.
Dodge Guy curses Complete unknown for getting caught but sits back and relaxes 'cos no-one is any the wiser, after all, he had 'nothing' to do with any of this.

Free flight me bollix. It's cost him at least €30 w/ charges etc. 19.8kilos of stuff + 0.2kilos of icing sugar wouldn't cost a hell of a lot more, hardly worth getting some complete stranger involved.

Tell him to stick it up his hole ;)

Does no-one remember the ads w/ the guy who was asked to bring a cute lil teddy bear to his destination? Only for customs to rip it to shreds and pour out cocaine. Poor teddy.

    It is what it's.

Ryanair charge E65 to change the name on a flight. You cannot fly without your name on the ticket. If you book in advance its still cheaper to book a return flight in your own time.

could you not just book two tickets for your self, claim to be a "person of size" or just say it's to get legroom
