My new MacBook Pro...

    Well,
After using my first Mac for two days now, I'm generally really happy with it.
The main concerns I have against it are minor things.

Firstly, I read about a squealing noise coming from the second processor. When there is no other sound in the room, this is really noticeable. It doesn't get annoying or anything, just quite distracting for a while.
The magna-safe thingy - well I haven't tested it out too much, as you can understand!
The speakers, I've had a bit of distortion coming out of them on full volume, more importanly, they don't really go up loud enough.

On the upside. The keyboard backlight is great! The 1GB of RAM, should soon be hopefully upgraded to 2GB when I can afford it.
The best thing about the MBP is the screen. It really is fantastic. I'm usually turning it down actually due to it being too bright, but it's great to know what there's the extra opwer there when you need it.
To be this is a thing of beauty, so I'll take a few photos of it during the week.

    S.

What's the bundled software like?, is it the usual iBook fare with little to speak of bar iLife or have they included something worthwhile?..

Well, there's plenty to keep you busy, let's just say. Most of the software I use I get from other places anyway. I'll get stuck into Garageband soon enough, and Photo Booth can keep you entertained for hours! :)
I haven't messed about with iWeb much yet - I'm still in the process of installing the software I need and making the palce seem like home - quite like moving into a new house actually! :)

ya gotta love the new and improved iphoto.. 1000's of photos loading instantaneously.. grreat! although i still havn't quite found a way to organise them all yet..

i've only got the stock 512mb of ram and while it's grand for surfing, listening to music and viewing things, it's simply not enough when it comes to using pro apps or rosetta. forget about a higher cpu, more ram is what the macbook needs..

my hard drive is almost full at this stage (5gigs left) and the system is beginning to slow down dramatically! even running safari now i'm seeing the spinning beachball do it's thing for too much of the time..
i'd recommend leaving at least 10gig free and back up the rest..

and of course there's the squeeling noise and distorted speaker.. annoying to say the least..

another thing.. the paint on the latch with the sleep light on it has began to peel off.. the reason for this is because when i'm browsing the web, i keep my thumb there as it's more comfortable.. just wish i was warned a month ago!

the above are all quite annoying defects and those who have waited for a 2nd gen model should be pleased with themselves..
in the meantime though, this is still a very beautiful, powerful machine when working with the proper programs and it's just a matter of time before it gets even faster.. universal!
