Photographing food

Anyone got any tips? I'm planning on doing an abstract set of prints around the theme of food. I'll be using 200 iso colour film. Ive only got an ordinary sigma slr camera with a 28-105mm lens. I need to take close up shots so what would the best lens to use be?

If you want close up shots you'll need a macro lens. I have a Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro lens for my Canon, I suppose they have that lens with a Sigma mount as well. It's 200 euro at Camera Exchange in Dublin. But I'm sure Sigma has some other Macro lenses as well, but I'm not too familiar with them unfortunately.

Anything with a macro really, just as long as you have a tripod, background and decent light too... Oh and maybe a microwave or a water spray...

Now why didn't I think think of that? Oh yeah i remember, I'm a tight bastard, thanks for searching it though, any ideas on how to make food look like its alive...amazon dont do any books on it
