    Can anybody tell me if a hard-drive sold as SATA - 2 will work with a SATA motherboard??

    SATA and SATAII are inter-operable.

    As above all SATA II drives are fully backwards compatible. There are probably very few SATA I drives left for sale.

    ya was finding it hard to find a SATA drive,good to hear there backwards compatible, was sweating it there a bit.
