Ipod - disconnecting problem

Hi, first post to this forum,

I recently got the new video ipod, and its doing my fcuking nut in. I connected it up and it automatically downloaded every song and photo off my computer... almost 4000 songs and a few hundred photos.

I'm not too bothered about this, but my real problem is trying to figure out itunes. I have downloaded a few podcasts and songs etc, but I can't seem to get them from the itunes to the ipod. There is no button or option to "upload ipod". Ive spent hours trying to figure this out, going onto the internet to find instructions, but I cannot find a guide anywhere.

My instructions that I got with the ipod just say "follow on screen instructions"... THERE IS NONE!

My main problem is just trying to disconnect my ipod from the PC. I cannot get the "do not disconnect" message off my ipod. No matter what I do in itunes (and I think I have clicked EVERY SINGLE OPTION by now) I cannot disconnect my ipod. I have to go to my desktop and go to the safely remove hardware option, which surely cannot be right.

I have spent hours trying to do something which everybody with an ipod has told me is easy to do. I feel like a fcuking idiot, but I cannot find anything which says "disconnect ipod" or "upload ipod". Surely these should be the two most importannt options on the screen???

I have loads of stuff on itunes which I cannot transfer to my ipod.

I'll be grateful of any help.

    Thanks

    Click the Help menu.
Click iTunes and Music Store Help option.

The podcasts should be automatically put onto your iPd if your music & videos are put on auto. Check under Music > Podcasts.

If your iPod doesn't disconnect auto, there is a little icon on the ' X's iPod ' tab or you can right-clcik the ' X's iPod ' tab and click eject.

Also check out Edit > Preferences > iPod and fiddle around with your settings there. You can make a preference about how you want you music, video & photos uploaded.

I think I may have found the problem. When I go to edit > preferences > ipod... it says No ipod connected, even though I have it hooked up.

What could be causing this? The ipod is charging, and yet it says there is no ipod connected??

Also, all the help documents keep directing me to the itunes source list. Where is this?

Try plugging it into another USB port and see if iTunes detects it then.

plug your ipod in to the usb BEFORE opening itunes and it should appear on the list, then you can set itunes to open automatically every time you connect it.

Why do you say it "surely cannot be right"? Using the safely remove hardware option is the SAFEST way of removing the device - especially in Windows 2000.

What version of Windows are you using?
