    argh the mind boggles!

    Coming up the M7 towards dublin, cops hidden in the roadworks at Newcastle (just as road goes to 3 lanes) so that you couldn't even seem them as you drew up along side to give people the scare, the only way you could see them was in the mirror! what sort of a detterant is that I ask!

    Alot of time its better to be hidden when performing sped checks. People tend to do silly things when they spot a patrol car.

    Some cars act as though they have pulled up the handbrake, fishtail all over the lane nearly losing control.

    Disagree completely. Speed traps a deterrent (in theory). That means you should be able to see them and be reminded to slow down. As you're most likely going to be approaching them, why would you want to hide the fact that you're braking when they can't see your rear lights anyway?
