Line-up looks excellent, was in the pub last night when I got the leaflet, nearly fell off my chair. Andrew Hill should be unbelievable, and another chance to see Soweto Kinch. Can't wait! Anyone else going?

I'll be going for Nyugen Le / Ronan Guilfoyle. My friend's been listening to loads of Nyugen Le and loves it, and I saw Ronan Guilfoyle at the Jazz Open Day in TBMC a couple of weeks back - he was playing with Tommy Halferty and a drummer whose name escapes me. Seems well worth going to.

YeVaD, I think it was Keith Copeland who Tommy was playing with.

I'll prolly head in on the Sunday to see Tommy play, and have chat with him about Newpark.

Should be going to see Andrew Hill, can't wait! Also I am eager to see The Phil Ware trio as my double bass teacher Dave Redmond shall be strutting his stuff. Also Mike Nielsen the same day if I think I have enough time to go to both.... I aint sure yet.....

I saw Andrew Hill and Phil Ware on friday night. Phil Ware was quite good, played standards and was very light and easy to get in to. Andrew Hill, on the other hand, was slightly disappointing. I understand that he's old and can't really get around the piano as much as he used to, but I thought his band were slightly mismatched aswell. They were all good players, but I thought they lacked some unity. It was great to get to see him though.

As for Soweto Kinch last night, that was somethin else! Everyone just went mad, dancing and really getting into the music. He played a wild show, and according to Niwel Tsumbu his drummer is "the new Elvin Jones". Potentially one of the best gigs I've been to I think.

One of the best gigs you've ever been to?! That's some compliment! Saw him on a jazz programme a while ago where he was tipped as the "next biggest artist", was very impressed I have to say!

Well, Jazz gigs I'd say! I had the utmost good luck to see Dave Brubeck a few years ago, he happened to be paying a gig when I was on holidays, couldn't believe it! Also Rick Peckham's recent Dublin visit is up there I think. Great show last night though, I fully reccommend him.
