I took a few photos in and around the city last night. The only problem in my mind is that they might be a little underexposed. Opinions?

    Lesson Number 1.

    The Lens Cap.

It is often best to remove the lens cap before taking a photograph. And preferable to replace it when your session is over. The lens cap does such handy things as stop you lens getting scratched, dirty and other such no-no's. It also may prevent you taking a photography unless you have one of those x-ray dealys. In which case, go straight to page 34 for results and experimentation in x-ray photography.

    :D

Nice pics alright! You should send them to the Galway Tourist Office for their new brochure! I bet you tourism will be up 25% if you do! :p

    Fenster:

At last an artist amongst us with the courage and (lack of?) vision to make a bold statement about colour, perceived reality and the state of our post modern world. The dystopian starkness of the rich black tonality conveyed by the pictures, mirrors the alienation of modern life. The blackness, devoid of colour, absorbing all colour, draws the viewer into this nether region where hope seems extinguished. Is there light at the end of the tunnel? The artist leaves the conclusion to the viewer...

The repetition of the choice of tones in each picture brings home the futility of modern life, where meaning has ceased to be relevent to a world increasingly preoccupied with self, selfhood, selfdom, selfishness and shellfish. The choice of a rectangular format (as opposed to square) means that there is no comfortable visual relief for the viewer. The horizontal and vertical lines will never match, and a sense of unease pervades, making the viewer look inwards and reflect on the dark side of human nature.

I just hope that you all get to see these pictures at full gallery size to feel their full impact, which is somewhat diminished viewing on a screen.
