Anyone here work in support at SAP? Are they a good company to work for? Bonuses? Money doesn't look great.
    Are the interviews very technical?

Hi, my friend works there in an analyst type position, where she's being trained from the bottom up after graduating from comp sci degree.
money is probably bad starting off but she's trained for months in places like Dresden(short trip to prague), israel and more, all in <1 year

Initially she was on a 6 month training course with a test at the end, and if you fail it you're out on your aarse, bit ropey i from what i hear.

Suppose it depends on what youre gonna be doing but all I can say from a developer perspective is that if you have SAP on your CV its pays very well and constantly.... do the year, get the experience and then see the $$$... :D

I wouln't have thought that would have developer/analysts positions in Ireland. Maybe I was wrong - if so that would be a big opportunity in my oppinion.

From what I've read their facility in Ireland was doing multilingual support, localization.

A mate of mine is out there at the moment doing the training for a developer analyst, its awful tough, you have an exam at the end of the 6 weeks training and you have to get 70% to pass if you fail you get one more attempt and if you fail that your contract is terminated and your out on your ear!!

You have to learn abap programming language which SAP use, good job to get though if you can pass, if your any good you'll probably leave SAP in about 5 years and become a SAP consultant which can make you a pretty penny!!

I think you missunderstood me, there are plenty developer positions which require SAP skills - and indeed they are paid top €, but SAP itself does not have a product development organisation in Ireland.

I knew guys earning a grand (punts!) a day in the mid-90's doing SAP consultancy work.

It's been on a wee-bit of a slide for a couple of years now.

I've seen several ABAP (SAPs programming language) advertised at rates equal to VB here in Ireland.

The big money seems to be in Oracle Apps now.

kc, It depends on your experience and what job you are looking to do. Can you elaborate a little more on these areas?

I understand what you're saying but was expecting (though now proved wrong :) that the organisation may still support BA's, PM's & the like here....)

"Technical Support Consultant Java - Production Services" is the role I was thinking about.

Id imagine you would be on good money. I worked in SAP after college in a different dept. and was on excellent money(for a graduate role). I got bonuses for exceeding targets etc. and there are a lot of nice little benfits that come with the job.

I'm work as an SAP consultant (not for SAP) and would recommend getting into it to anyone tinkering withthe idea. SAP skills will allow you to travel the world and make a lot of money at the same time.
