I would like to start editing images. I hear photoshop is excellent, but as far as I know I have to pay for it. Me being a misserable git I don't want to:D . Can you suggest something simular to photoshop?

[Free]Gimp (+ GimpShop - somewhat similar to the UI of Adobe's Photoshop)
Have a look in Digital Art/Design sticky.

    The Gimp?

    http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

Ive never used it, but it seems reasonable for a free program
