This may have been discussed before, if so I apologise...
I have an FTA system with a 60cm dish in the West of Ireland focussed on Astra 2 - great so far, but now I'm wondering about taking a look at other satellites - probably Astra 1 and Hotbird.

    My choices are, I guess,
    i) Add a switch, lnb(s) (and bigger dish I presume)
    ii) Add a motor.

    Do I have this right?
What are the (dis)advantages and costs of either method.
    Any other options?

    Peter

Disadvantage of a motor - wind loading. You've a small enough dish mind, but if you're in an exposed location on the west coast, its not worth the hassle of having to chase your dish and broken motor down the fields some day...

A Motek and an 88cm triax will be OK as long as mount is good enough.

If you just want the other main birds, like Hotbird @ 13°E, Astra 1 @ 19°E and Astra 2 @ 28°E, then a multi-LNB arm, together with DiSEqC switch would probably be less hassle. With narrow LNB's you could probably get Eutelsat W2 @ 16°E too.
