20% off most of Dell's LCD range

    Website

I'm considering the 24". What do you think?

imho, percentage of price slash is part of dell marketing strategy. i bought one of those 2005FPW few weeks ago, before discount price was 730 euros , sold around 470 euros. they advertised it being 15% off. see my thread :

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054904532

anyhow the new pricing today, even after 20%, the 2005FWP end up around 70 euros more expensive than the one i bought. :D

p/s : i wish i could hv used the EPP. would save me another 30 euros!

    Hey Max,

I agree about Dell's strategy here, although if you were buying one anyway then discount is discount (and I was looking to buy one). I was looking at the Dell site during the month, and I'm pretty sure it was more than 15% on the 20", and this 20% is across pretty much the whole range rather than a single model.

They seem to have 20% off in the states as well, which makes me wonder if they're trying to sell them off to bring in new models. Still, the 24" for ~1k seems pretty good, no?

CiaranC: EPP is the employee purchasing program (or similar). You have to be an employee, of course.

yeah, 24" is awesome for a grand and i feel like my 20" getting smaller after few weeks. :D now i wish i could hv more to spend last time. the newer models have been out a while so i heard. The 2007WFP (not 2007FPW as in 2005FPW) has not much changed from its predecessor. i'm sure 2407 has a lot more to offer but again it will work more expensive than what dell has now on their website.

Instead of getting a 24inch Dell LCD screen, I paid a bit more and got:

    1 x 20 inch 2005FPW Widescreen
    2 x 17 inch 1705 LCD monitors

and I got an NVidia Quadro NVS 280, so I have three monitors, the widescreen in the middle running of my main graphics card, and the 2 17 inches either side.

They all match and it's looks awesome, with considerably more screen space than from the 2405.

My suggestion is watch their sales carefully and then haggle. Buying this time last year, I managed to get all the above for approx 1230 including 5 year replacement warranties.
