What offends women?

Why do some women find certain words and phrases really offensive, whereas men have no problem using or hearing them at all?

I think this is a major source of misunderstanding between the sexes, and propose a scientific study to remedy this social ill.

I propose that through this thread, men post words and phrases that they think might offend women, and then the ladies respond with their reactions, and why.

Lets all get behind this one as it could be the educational tool that will finally unite the sexes!

    I'll get the ball rolling:

"Did you get your end away? (did you make love to that lady?)..Offensive?

I wanna say something. I'm gonna put it out there; if you like it, you can take it, if you don't, send it right back. I want to be on you.

I like to think Im fairly thick skinned and open minded... References to sex wouldn't offend me at all tbh as long as they're not sick or depraved ie paedophilia or the sort... As long as its not in a derogative way.. for example.. "yer wons a fat c*nt but I still rode 'er" that would offend me.. Often the sort of thing you hear on a bus or in a pub... (Not about me btw)

I've personally never understood the revulsion to the word c*nt...

I mean, when you think about it, it's almost exactly the same as the word cock which no one has a problem with. Is it something to do with women's aversion to their own bodies or something?

This all rather reminds me of The Sopranos

Tony (talking about Big Pussy and his wife) "Fcuk him, and his miserable kunt wife"

    Carmela "His what wife?!!?":D :D

I cant think of any young woman I know that would be offended by any word if it wasnt directed at them in an insult tbh. Birds swear as much as we do. Indeed, women seem to casually swear more when in the company of lads rather than when their with their own female mates Ive found.

I've known women who've had absolutely no reservations with using the cúnt word at all (found a lot of country girls aren't as shocked from it) and other's who'd rather die than speak/hear it. I suppose they look on it as the max insult that someone can direct at them, sort of the way most guys will get insulted if someone called them a f****t.

Mmm interesting....I do hate the word and wince inwardly every time I hear it. Vagina, fanny, hole etc don't bother me at all but c*nt seems to have a nasty mysoginist connotation. It is getting used more and more though, so the "shock" value will wear off. I don't think the revulsion to it is anything to do with womens aversion to their own bodies at all. I didn't realise aversion to our own bodies was even widespread to any degree...?
