HI all,
My company will shortly have an opening for a UNIX admin for our IT department. This is a small department looking after 150 people across three countries. We are looking for someone who really knows their Unix/AIX/Solaris as this will be primary responsibility, but you should also know Active Directory on Win 2k3 very well.

IT Engineer
Minimum Requirements
• An IT graduate with a minimum of 3-4 years IT administration experience or Certificate/Diploma in Computing/IT.
• A proven track record of experience in relevant field.
• Ability to take the initiative and to work without much supervision on a day to day basis
• PC Maintenance Certification (A+), (N+) Industry Standard Certification (MCP,MCSE, MCSE+I, CNE, CCNA MCNE, RHCE) desired but not necessary.

Core Responsibilities
• Support Norkom staff both working locally and remotely
• SUN/HP/AIX – Knowledge of UNIX flavours are a must as this position will be the main contact for UNIX based systems.
• Software and hardware asset management
• Software license administration
• Stay abreast of relevant developments in hardware, operating systems, web technologies and server and desktop applications
• Server resource estimation and planning
• Performance tuning
• LAN, WAN and Remote Access administration and traffic monitoring
• Anti-Virus coordination
• System security and backup administration
• Disaster Recovery planning and documentation
• Administration of File and Print Services, Databases, Internet

Services and co-ordination and management of distributed applications
Experience, Competencies & Skills
• Exchange 2003 Server
• LAN and WAN experience
• Firewalls – Watchguard a benefit but not necessary
• SUN Solaris (10)/IBM AIX (5.2&5.3) / HP-UX
• Oracle 9i and 10g
• Windows OS family
• System security and backup administration
• Practical working knowledge of: W2K3 domains and active directory
• Practical working knowledge of intermediate server hardware (including
• SCSI, RAID and I/O topology
• Disaster Recovery planning and documentation
• Knowledge of Anti Virus technology, software and best practices
• Excellent troubleshooting, judgement and decision-making skills
• High level of self-motivation and proven ability for self-study and learning on the job

• Nortel Meridian Phone system
• Oracle DBA
• IIS 5/6
