Read lot of stuff lately about street self defense and that’s cool, been homeless lived on the streets have my own experience not as a bouncer but as a punk-rocker with a red Mohawk. Decide what you want, be the man against a drunk - with six sober he-mans beside you, or be the potential victim able to dish out damage, deterring a second attack. Been a lot of arguments and we’ve all been asking what’s realistic?

We’ve all come from different backgrounds / experience, and personally I believe that any trained ring / cage / lei-tai fighter stands a better chance than any novice - hence the “no-contest” decisions in some competitions.

Anyway being an internal kung fu practitioner with training in fist – (ranked 4th imaf pro-san da- 2005), sword, saber, and spear, I’d like to offer my space to anyone interested in fighting or just learning fast kick-punch-throws – comp or street, fist or weapon - no charge, just passion, be it for San shou or any mma.

For myself I’m part of the Cheng Tin-Hung lineage, RIP 2005, that lad certainly had enough scars, thus a discipline was drilled in us (Practical Tai Ch Chuan ) to respect the reality of sharp weapons.

Anyway anyone interested in actually exploring in a realistic / resistant / non-style-specific manner - building to competition specific, or multiple / armed opponents situation, feel free to come down. Plus anyone, from any style interested in fighting san shou / san da.
I can’t guarantee success in the street anymore than the ring, nor can anyone, ultimately it comes down to the fighter, however I can make kicks, punches, and throws seem like second nature, strategic, understandable progressions.

I’m an architect by profession, have a good salary, and so have no interest in bull****ting, only in keeping alive the skills that have been passed on to me.

Combined my Chinese wrestling / Chinese Kick-Boxing record is 93 fights, 85 wins, 2 draws, and 6 loses. Have trained two British Champions and A European Champion.

    All the Best,

    Niall

HA HA I can relate to your Red mowhawk experiences.

I went to Uni in eastern canada, in small town, it was
Redneck Hillbillie city and i had long hair down to my waist
back then. Rednecks hate anything that is not...well redneck.
So I ended up having to defend myself, against bigger older
guys, who had plenty of backup (I had none!) many many times.

Some I won, some I got badly battered. Some I managed to
    run for my life!!!!

Those days were some no holds barred fighting experiences.
No medals for me after them either!! LOL!!!

I think I had invented my own style of Krav Maga, many years before
it was even heard of!!! LOL!!!

I ways always interested in Kung FU.

Tell me what is "Practical Tai Chi"

I am guessing it is different from the more
popular Tai Chi versions we see.

How would be relate to fighting?

    Cheers

    Gerry

Fair play to you Niall, cool to see people giving something back for free, and who have a genuine interest in passing on knowlege. I hope it works out for you.

    Cheers,

    Baggio.

PS - I was punker guy as well.... I had spikes instead of the red mowhawk tho',
now I just have no hair:)
