Irish Oral's

Hi! Eh my Irish Oral is next week(wed) and im just wondering how u say i have twin brothers and twin sisters in my family. Like is there any other word apart from cúpla? It, in my opinion sounds wrong!

Help would be appreciated!!

also was wondering if u can downloads the sliochts anywhere?? i have them on tape but i don't have a tapeplayer!!! i'd love 2 be able 2 put them on my ipod. thanks

This reads as "... I would fall it as hot potato"

The verb 'titim' means more to fall, not the act of dropping, and is intransitive e.g. you can't say "thit sé é" only "thit sé".

tá mé an príomhoide - is wrong. Really wrong! Is príomhoide mé or tá mé i mo phríomhoide.

Ní dhéanfainn post níos fearr dá mbeinn i mo phríomhoide - unlike English, the tenses must match -> If it would xxx, then I would xxx.

First off, was industry really 'suffering' 5 years ago? In the middle of the 80s maybe, but in 2001? You might expect the examiner to take you up on that point.

'Taca' is a period in time, so 'am' is redundant. 'thart ar 5 bhliain ó shin'.

Straightforward, correct Irish is better than complicated, incorrect Irish.

can't argue wit d rest of it, kicking myself as usual when i see it corrected as i know it looks wrong, but can't figure out why.

but ive been taught taca and am go together as in:

this time last year= taca an am seo anuraidh

I'm afraid both Ó'Dónaill and An Foclóir Beag suggest not:

taca [ainmfhocal firinscneach den cheathrú díochlaonadh]
frapa, teannta; cuiditheoir (fear taca, taca na bhfann); pointe ama (an taca seo den bhliain, den lá; bliain (is) an taca seo).

thnx they are a great help. can anyone tell me in the simplest from how i say....i have two sons,jack is 12 weeks and sean is 6 years old.
im in college have an irish oral next tues and have not a clue!

i could also say sorry but since having a baby my brain has turned to mush?

Some people have mentioned complicated mistakes that I wouldn't have noticed or been able to correct but shouldn't "lathanta" be laethanta?

as in laethant saoire or laethant seo???
