Make sure Airport is turned on - you should see its icon in the top right hand corner of your screen beside the clock.
If Airport is turned on what is the signal strength like?

Is it a Wireless Netopia modem?
Does it have any wireless security enabled like MAC filtering which would stop other PC's or Apple Macs accessing the Netopia network?
