Interview mess-up

    Ok here's the problem....

This morning I did an interview with the company I work for, it was for a completely different role (I work in sales this was to move into training). Normally I prepare well for the looking at both the company and the role, but due to time constraints outside of work I really didn't get much chance at all to prepare for it. Now over the years I've done loads of interview, but they have nearly always been for sales roles with a new company so I have very little experience doing internal interviews.

The interview didn't go well, I was expecting it to take about a hour but it finished in 30 minutes and I feel I didn't answer some of the questions as well as I could of done. The only thing I can think of in my favour is that I know it is the classic two stage interview were the better candidates get called back for the second round, since they already know me, then this one would of been for want of a better word a formality in that they didn't have to find out loads about me.

The thing is I really want this change, I want to get into training and the company I work for a great so its a close to the perfect job for me as you'll get.

Does anyone ahve any suggestions on how I could repair the damage done by the bad interview or is it basically ust a case of doing a killer interview in the next round?

Do you know the people (Personally) who interviewed you. Or anyone who knows them

Why aren't you direct and honest with them in next interview: "look we both know the previous interview was not perfect, etc ... and let me prove that I am the best candidate, etc ..."

you have nothing to lose really, at this stage
