I am a tad bored today in work, so I decided to see what the very first few threads in this forum were like and needless to say there are quite a few funny threads/posts from now respected players. I won't embarrass many people but 2 things I have to point to are:

Muso on poker classes in Fitz: I don't know who runs them but looking at pics of people who have done them, one is Vernon someone-or-other and a very good player. If it is because of the classes then they must be good :D

Dev on his (first?) visit to the Fitz: Thread is called "Why don't they call it Whitejack?" and tells the tale of him playing blackjack, but wanting to play poker though not getting round to it.

I enjoyed reading lots of threads for the humour value, and it should be a reminder to all of us that we were all noobs once at this game.

Some of Lafortezzas posts are good too :D

I am deliberately 'singling out' the mods in this post, not to make fun, but just to show all new guys that theirs is a path often followed. I have played with all the above mentioned several times and know them all to be very good players now. Just thought some of their old posts might be good to 'embarrass' them with occassionally.

Pah .... you think that is bad.

Look at my first thread start !

    Different Sites, Same Poker Rooms

I guess you guys all know this anyway....though maybe not.

Interpoker, Betfair and William Hill are all the same.
Same cards, same games, same players, just the artwork design of the table and chairs.

This are easy enough standard to get ahead on, so you can deposit your money and pick up their bonus promotions, but still play against the same players. ...Just a little tip.

Very nice of you to share that confidential information :)

I when bored will often go back and read about our first trip into the fitz freeroll when we all first met around a card table etc. About the business league, when all the banks and other companies were coming onto boards to 'spy on us' god it was funny back then.

    How times have changed

Dub13 (I think) posted a thread about updating the Boards:Poker wiki a while back and I meant to bump it.

    http://www.boards.ie/wiki/index.php/Board:Poker

The forum is so popular now (and community-orientated) that it really is something we should do. There have been some great threads here, and they should be honored! I particulary remember a thread where it was correct to fold Aces preflop, but I can never find it.

Muso: "At this point we learnt a new term in poker. Being one off the prize money is called "The Bubble". "

Devore (talking about the fitz): "The casino is like something from Oceans Eleven"

Devore: "The hardest thing to do in poker is fold in my experience." lmao!!!

Yes back at the start (by start I mean when we all started going in) there was dealers. It was like a procession of them coming down the staris at the start of the tournie, I remember the first week there was none, we all nearly died we were getting in about 5 hands a blind level. What ever a blind level was

Biggest noob mistake that I remember making and posting about was flopping quads in the freeroll and when everyone checked to me I pushed all-in.

And was happy to win the pot when everyone folded :/

The "Big Game" was the monthly 270 on Thursday in the Fitz. It had dealers, I don't recall the freeroll ever having dealers because thats where I learned to deal (never could stand self-dealing).

It was this week two-years ago that I won my first tournament (on crutches!).

I remember it took ages before we started discussing online poker! Fitz freerolls and home games were the usual posts for ages!

No, the 'big game' quote I was referring to was def a freeroll. 35 players, rebuys, etc.

I remember the SuitedAces team playing in the first Fitz Business League... and storming it!

Seriously, we were allowed keep our cards in our pockets back then. It was an anti-cheating rule. It was a good one, they should bring it back. :)

    6. When the blinds rise they will take all the 5 euro chips back and some form of game of chance is played out (I wasnt watching and I havent seen that done before so I dont know what they did, anyone enlighten me?). The winner gets all the chips (rounded to the nearest least chip that is still valid in the game).
