how do I find roofers or tradesmen

Hi I am helping a friend who's roof is leaking. I hired builders and tradesmen for our own build with the guidance of our engineer and friends who had built but I now need to find a roofer in an area I don't know. Any advise on how I would go about this or hiring any other trades man? Thanks, Eve
