Is there any consitutional right to social welfare? Perhaps as a property right?
DppvMS says there is not but have there been any decisions since saying otherwise? Hope someone can help as I have searched and I can't find anything. Ta!

I don't think social welfare was a prominant feature of politics in 1937. The Swedes (I think) were the first to introduce it in the mid-20th Century, and Ireland took it on in the 60's.

Sorry I don't know much more about it.

Don't think as constitutional right for adults, possibly statutory right. Even if it was a constituional right it would be a socio-economic right and hence unenforceable by the courts as per TD v. Min for education
