Help! Need Camera!

    Hi all,
I use digital cameras in my work all the time, taking pics on construction sites, in factories, etc. I had a Fuji A310 for the last 3+ years that took all the abuse I could unintentinally throw at it. It finally gave up two days ago, and I have been using its older boxy cousin as a stand in.

I just did a trawl of the camera shops in Cork and all I can find are new Fuji's that don't have viewfinders, a must for my kind of work. The batteries just don't last with the LCD on.

I was told in the shops that LCD only is the new style, but I just want an old fashioned camera like the A310. The A340,345,and 350 have viewfinders but are not in the shops! I would really like to get one of these, as they will most likely fit the docking cradle I got with the A310.

I really need to get a camera before Monday; any advice would be most welcome.

Thanks, yours in a panic, :( Rusty

Are there any second hand shops? Even electrical pawn shops?

If not, eBay or the FS forums could be your friend!

Keep in mind though that today's modern cameras can take up to 500 shots without recharging the battery... maybe a viewfinder isn't a must?

can you use digital? i'm presuming the photographs are safety related, a family memeber works in the same industry and he found that in court digital were less likely to be taken as evidence due to the ease of manipulation of photograhs. alot of cheap point in shoots just have viewfinders, my friend got a phillips one the other week and its acceptable

The current entry-level FujiFilm cameras (the A400 and A500 - 4.1 and 5.1 Megapixels respectively) both have viewfinders and are the same style camera as the A310 (although slightly more up-to-date).

Harvey Norman's recently opened store in Cork should have them in stock.

ThirdFox; I've never seen 500 shots on the same batteries with the LCD on. When you factor in a lot of standby when walking around, restarting after auto-shutoff etc, then the old batts get tired very quickly.

Melek; It has been my experience that any court I've been in (mostly district) will accept any digital photos as long as the person who took them is present to state that they are his and he took them on such and such a date etc etc. The photos are examined under 'discovery' terms anyway, and would be shot down long before any court appearance.

Bard; thanks - will find them and have a look- those models you quoted are just the ones I'm looking for. Must admit I never heard of Harvey Norman, but her indoors soon put me right on that one!

Thank you all for your prompt replies.

    Regards, R.:)
