PCTV Card Software not working

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Rave Tuner card which comes with Pinnacles buggy PCTV Vision and Webtext programs. v4 came with the card origionaly and it used to work fine, but the WebText always gave me an error saying the hardware could not be initialised. Despite this, the TV program always worked fine (although I could never tune TV3 because the card software only works in channels and not the frequencies )

Anyway, I had reinstalled windows (wipe and reload) and recently decided to install the TV software and drivers again so I could use it. I downloaded v5.5 and installed it. It installed fine and after the reboot the test program starts and checks everything. It passed, but every time I go to start the TV tuner program, the program just crashes. No luck whatsoever. I uninstalled and reinstalled, I uninstalled the drivers, the software and removed the card, rebooted into windows. Shut down again and reinstalled the card. Booted into windows and reinstalled the software, rebooted twice and tried to run the TV program. Same problem, it just crashes. It is a piece of s***

I used to have problems with it before, when I went to make a recording, the program would go all jumpy, and would jump between the current frame and previous ones, back and forth (very annoying). When I tried the BrookTree drivers, I could not use the TV program (it would crash) but I could use Movie Maker to transfer stuff from the Video to the PC. But I have since reinstalled windows after reformatting. But PCTV Vision just wont work. It is driving me nuts.

Is there any decent TV viewer program, that works with the BrookTree drivers and will "support" PAL-I

I have tried it in Linux, but it lists only PAL, PAL M, PAL N, PAL BG, NTSC and SECAM. When I select PAL, I can get a picture but only static instead of sound. This happened before in PCTV Vision, and when I selected PAL I, it worked. If I can get a good TV Program, then I can use the card with the B/T drivers and all will be well. Any suggestions?

ChrisTV is the only other TV software I know of but it is a commercial application.

The PCTV Rave is on the supported cards list as well.

No idea of how to fix the issue with Pinnacles own software but you could try an older version maybe and see what happens.

Have you tried the usual suspects such as MediaPortal and GB-PVR?

    They might support it.

Don't suppose DScaler would ? Best software going for tv cards, by far.
