Anybody know if there are any live sit and go satellites in the Red Cow or the Gresham for the Kilkenny cup? I tried pokerevents website, but no info.

Thanks for the reply, can I assume there are no 10 seat satellites in Dublin though?

First, second and third in the Red Cow and the weekly Gresham events receive tickets for the Leinster Open, however these can be exchanged for Kilkenny cup tickets.

    Hi Fintan,

Do you think €15 registration and an extra €10 for a topup is a fair price. Thats essentially €100 + €25. I played 1 event in the Gresham and will not play another as i think the reg fee is absolutely disgraceful. It's somewhat in line with those charged by the infamous Texas Nights.

Hi, I'm surprised having played the Gresham you did'nt do the simple maths and understand what good value it is.
Players have a well run transparent tournament.
Proper director to ensure a fair game.
    Dealers at every table.
Good blind structure 20 min level with none of the early levels skipped.
    Excellent grub at the break.
    €500 added to the prizepool.
Chip count to verify all figures.
To answer your question NO I dont think it's a fair price as I'm losing money on the event every week.
Your comment as to compare our event to a pub game is a tab stupid.
It not anywhere near the same experience. Think about it.
Also I cant understand how you would play the Gresham without knowing the reg fee which is clearly advertised everywhere.
Anyway, I'm sorry your not satisfied with our product, I'd be interested to know where you play yourself and what type of games, how long are you playing etc.

    Fintan Gavin.

pure ignorance. 10+hours work for Fintan and the boys for 2500euro for every 100 runners. Actual dealers!!! And a proper tourney. Sorry bud, but you're playing way too much online poker. Online poker is 10% for any tourney and you don't get half of what you get at Fintans tourney. To put it into perspective. Celtic poker took in 60,000+ at a recent tourney and paid out less that 25,000. It was self deal for 90% of the tourney. The whole thing is unprofessional, start to finish, crappy tables...basically a joke for any real poker player. And you have the gall to complain about these tournies.

    COME ON!

Sorry...but I think your way off here!

Sorry bud, but your assumptions are totally unsubstantiated. i play live poker several days a week and nowhere do I pay 25% of my entry as a reg fee - FACT.

Every tournament I play has dealers. Every tournament I play has good food at the break. Every tournament I play has a tournament director.

Actually these things are standard for 90% of tournaments in Dublin. Even the SE double chance with a €5 registration has dealers at every table for the entire tournament.

Hi Fintan, I've been playing live poker for about 2 years, played the Merrion mainly up until last year, a little bit of the Fitz. Now i mainly play in the Sporting Emporium. I play everything from the €50 dc to the Fitz end of month game.

I think the Gresham events are extremely well organised (as are all your events). However, I firmly believe along with many others that the registration for these events is OTT.

I heard numerous people at a recent tournament making similar comments regarding the Red Cow tournaments.

I do think the events are good. I just think a 25% reg fee is quite alot.

When you consider what has to be paid out.

    - 10 dealers
    - Room hire
    - Food
    - Insurance ?
    - Advertising(allthough granted this is probably quite small)

considering this kind of expenditure I really dont see it as a rip off as I cannot see where the profit is, I have never played the gresham but was at the dublin open which was well run so I imagine this is a good product also.

Comparing this Gresham gig to a casino may be unfair as casinos have cash games and table games to provide profit and essentially run smaller buyin tourneys as a loss leader. I think pokerevents provide a far better "introduction to poker" tournament product than pubs etc.

25% sounds harsh but I doubt they would cover costs if it were lower
