NTSC games and memory card issues on Gamecube?

I mistakenly bid on an US Gamecube game on Ebay. It looks like I will win the auction.

I know I'll need a freeloader disk to play it, but I read somewhere that the save games for different regions are different.

Is there a chance that if I save the US game on my "PAL" memory card it might erase or delete exsisting data?

Should I buy a second memory card to be safe?

US and EU save games can co-exist on one memory card, but you'll need to format it if you want to save JAP games on it. So you're in the clear.

I won the auction anyway today.

I'm now on the lookout for a Freeloader disk if anyone is interested in parting with theirs?

Nope, it was a Gamecube game I bid on (I did say in the first post).

    Paper Mario in fact.

Hope it's worth the hassle after my stupid bidding:(

It's pretty damn good :) If you can't find the Freeloader disc here, it's also part of the GC Action Replay, which you should be able to pick up in Game in Dawson Street, HMV in Grafton Street or else online (CDWow/Lik-Sang).

I picked up a Freeloader disk on eBay but it won't work for me.

When I put it in it says "an error has occured" and I have to turn the power off.
The disk looks genuine and if pretty clean.

Is there a "trick" to them or are Freeloaders generally picky when deciding to work?

Probably just dodgy. Ah, the joys of eBay

Usually they *do* work. My Freeloader disc is part of the GC Action Replay though, and I've never had any problems with it. If you got a manual with it, it should tell you that there's 3 ways of booting from the Freeloader and how to do each one, alternatively it should be on Datel's website.

Yep, my freeloader works 90% of the time with my ntsc resi4, but on rare occasions it doesnt. I assume the freeloader alters the cube's bios temp, and allows region free? Great little gadget.

Thanks for the replies but it is the Freeloader disk itself that wont work.

The 3 loading methods are just to get various differnt games working (afaik) but it dosen't let me get that far. I get no Freeloader title screen

Just an update on the situation:

I enquired about the situation and got an email back from codejunkies.com who now market the Freeloader.

Apparently NO Freeloader will work on the newer model Gamecubes.

My model number is "dol-101" It is the Mario Smash Football bundle that Argos were selling.

    Just thought I'd mention it.

Now to sell my NTSC Paper Mario & Freeloader
