Hey I am currently waiting on a new psu to arrive but I was just wondering could anyone give me a bit of help.

The problem is when i try and turn my pc on it turns on as normal but after a few seconds it just turns off again. However if I leave the pc off for a while without trying to turn it on it can go to the desktop. For example when it first turned off i tried turning it on but would only go so far ( not even into windows ) before turning off. But the next day i tried it i managed to get into it as normal but after i shut it down and tried turning it on again the same thing happens.

Ive noticed that the fan on the back of the psu isnt moving but it seems everything else is normal as no irregular beeps or anything are happening and the other fan on the cpu and the large fan are still working. So is it the psu thats causing it to turn off as the fan on the back of it is definitely not moving??? It was a 450 psu that came with the antec case btw...

    Joe,
I would also check the processor fan and heatsink are also important to check if it was shuting off due to heat.

Make sure the heatsink is on the processor is on correctly and the processor fan is working.

Had a problem like that myself. The machine would power up sometimes and then other times the power light would be on but no post message even with ram out. Well I changed PSU but it didn't fix it. Turned out to be the MotherBoard. If after swapping the PSU its still happening to you it could be the Motherboard like it was for me.

I hope it isnt the motherboard. I have checked the cpu and its running normal. The system program i have on the comp monitors temps inside the pc and the cpu is at 20' and everything seems stable the only thing that looks like what could be wrong is the fan on the back of the psu.....it has to be it?...please god let that be it.

Anyone ever heard of a pc just turning off because of the psu? I should let ye know aswell that it isnt a proper shutdown its as if I pull the plug from the socket and then stick it in again as if the power went out...:(

Ps. Checked my psu tracking and its in laois so hopefully should have it tomorrow.
