I only found out about this today, its on the www.thumped.com website should be some great shows if anyone can make it.

THE EVENS, from Washington DC -

    St. Nicholas of Myra Parish Centre - Dublin8 Saturday April 1 7pm - 10pm

    No age restrictions

The Evens are a duo from Washington DC who play stripped down, almost folk-like, variations on the rock song. Ian McKaye (fugazi) plays baritone guitar and Amy Farina (the warmers) plays drums. They both sing

Their sound relies on intimacy as much as intensity, their lyrics as politically charged as they are emotionally wrought. Yet at the heart of the band's dynamic is a certain quietitude and sensitivity that ties all this together into a strong pop sensibility.

They are touring the Uk and Ireland in late March/early April. The Irish tour consists of the following dates

Tues 28th, Belfast Common Ground Church Hall.

    Wed 29th, Derry Nerve Center.

Sat 1st, Dublin St Nicholas Of Myra Parish Centre, Francis Street, Dublin 8.
Info: niall@thumped.com Tickets €7.50 + bkng fee from Road records and City Discs
In an attempt to make music as accessable as possible all the gigs have no age restrictions. The Dublin gig is being brought to you courtesy of Hope Promotions. Hope regularly put on independent gigs from 1987 to 1999, including Fugazi four times. It culminated in the release of the punk vegan cookbook 'Document: a story of Hope'. This self published book featured contributions from bands like Therapy?, Mexican Pets, Chumbawamba, The Ex, Fugazi, Bikini Kill and many more. It told the story of all the gigs Hope put on and featured a recipe and story for each of the 183 gigs. Document has since been published in North America by Soft Skull Press under the title 'Please Feed Me'

Also on the night of the Dublin gig is a film showing of 'Beautiful Frenzy'. This tells the story of Dutch band The Ex who celebrated their 25th anniversary with the release of this film.
