No I don't think you can.

no, movies saved wont play after you drop the movie package.

also if your on direct debit payment you might find yourself paying for more than the month of march. i added the movies for christmas and ended up stuck with it for 2 1/2 months.
when i added it, sky said i would have to keep it for 28 days minimum that it was charged on a daily rate and to phone on the 28th day to cancel.
then when i phoned to cancel, sky said they could switch it off but that i had gone 1 week into my next direct debit payment so i had already paid for a further 2 months of movies and that they could not refund my extra payment, so i should keep it and call the day before the next direct debit payment to cancel the package.
im still not sure weither they could of credited my account, cancelling is a lot more of a hard sell process than upgrading. you will be asked to complete a survey over the phone and they might push other packages on you or offer you a deal not to drop one.

The card is used to decrypt the data from disk, as if it was the live signal.

No matter WHAT is recorded, you can only view whatever channels you have a CURRENT sub for, it's just a time delay.

Bit of a bummer isn't it?

So if you had Sky World and changed down to 2 mix packs, you would be hit for Sky+ recording instead of getting it free, AND only be able to view previously recorded FTA and those two mix packs.

All the data gets an extra on the fly Sky+ Encryption, so even FTA TV can't be viewed without a Sky+ sub later. Nor on a PC if you swap out the disk. That's the bit that is REALLY mean.

And Sky argue that the Sky+ recording charge is for the EPG (which the ordinary Digibox users get free).

The reality is there is not and never was a "Recording Charge". It is really a "Playback" Charge.

This is why I'm not getting a Sky+ till the rental is abolished. Though, the limitation on Pay TV channel recording matching you current sub will always apply even if FTA recordeing renatl is abolished.

No point in dropping your package if you have Sky+ anyway because you get the subscription for free. The only reason I have half movies and half sports is because of the Sky+ sub.

Also can someone confirm for me the price for the family pack, sports 1 and movies 2 is? cause i think i'm not paying enough. I get charged €48.50 p/m adn i'm nearly sure it's €52 or something.

Actually to answer my own question. My package should be €54 p/m but i'm only paying €48.50 p/m hehehe.

Feck sky+. Get a dvd recorder. Use autoview on the sky digital box and the timer on your dvd recorder. Once its recorded its yours forever.
