Sound problem - Dell D600 lappy

    Hi Guys'n Gals,

Got the following problem on my D600, since reinstalling SP1 + SP2: no sound at boot, with everything greyed out in the sound Properties in cfg panel (even though hardware device manager shows audio h'ware, codecs etc. all installed & working).

If I reinstall the drivers manually (Sygmatec self-exec.) after boot, works fine - until I switch the lappy off or reboot it.

Sound drivers always install to C:\Progs\ and they're always there after a boot, so the reinstall just overwrites.

Only thing I can think of at this stage, is just format and reinstall everything. But short of something as drastic, has anyone got any clues what the problem could be? Or had the same problem and solved it?
