Anyone see the burnt out 280SL sitting in the scrap yard opposite the Red Cowe on the Naas roads yesterday ?

Apparantly it was the victim of punishment/vandalism or something so the scrappie said !

Looks like it was a nice car previously, original Irish number, silver with red interior, hard top etc..

Seems someone threw petrol over a few cars belonging to this dealer in the vicinity, there is a white stretch Limo beside it and another classic in there too, dunoo what make !

    Terrible shame !

Hmmm, wonder what the story is behind that one. Wonder is there anything worth parts wise left of the merc. Terrible to hear of such destruction.

Last time I was there they let me have a rumage around, which I find I'm not normally let, however, that good point was also a bad point: its was a bit dangerous, lots of falling into muddy holes and could see myself having a "Superman II" incident with the car crusher :(

AFAIK they wont let anyone near the car as there's probably some insurance issues to deal with now, befor ethey decide whether it salvageable.

I'd say it could be repaired but it will be expensive so it really depends on if they had an agreed value on it or can prove how good it was prior to the damage !

Indeed it is, I get alot of parts for my car there. Their relatively cheap, but the best part is that they let you wonder around the scrap yard + there is no alsastion to eat the legs of you!

I remember they had an old Jag XJ6 there for some time, although it probably met its match with the crusher.:(

There was/is a 70's Peugeot (403?) for sale in the Motormarket paper last week, could be same car.

BTW manta mad, any interest in an Opel Commodore Coupe 2800 GS/E ?
I know of one for sale.

I met the guy who owns that yard a while back,(drinks with a mate) told me he got a mustang in a few years back and sold it on complete for a few grand.
Seen a stunning merc today passing the bleeding horse heading for Ranelagh, cream coloured, two door, I would say 60's. Sounded very nice. Unfortunatly it had no numbers on it so haven't a clue what model it was, but on ZV plates.
Oh another thing, anyone hear of the couple of guys out swords way apparently importing and selling on Mustangs. A fella told me a while back that they worked down estuary lane way but I couldn't find them.

Today between Malahide and Portmarnock, I saw a black Peugeot 403, 4 door saloon (they made them convertible also: Columbo's car), with a roof rack and a French plate, ending with 13, meaning that it is from around Marseille, in the Bouches du Rhone.
