I cant seem to find out the model or any details on my Soundcard.I re installed XP on my computer and now need to get download drivers for it.

Apart from opening up the comp box , what other methods is there.(any command or somethng??)

I dont have the net at home (at present) so automaticaly searching isnt an option. I have tried the obvious ways by looking in device manger etc but no device found.

    any help appreciated

You should load Belarc, this gives you a full spec. of your PC. Its also free to use.

Belarc only reads the devices out which are installed in the system.

the only way to find it out will be to remove the soundcard and have a look what is written on it.

did you buy the card seperately? or is it on board?
If on board, what mainboard do you have?

Open the case - theres a whole new world in there for you to get addicted to !

    * To be cautious touch some large unpainted metal object before handling any components - eg. a radiator pipe etc. - gets rid of possible static build-up that could fry stuff

If its a PCI sound card remove the retaining screw using a philips screwdriver and pull the card straight out - usually there will be a model no./name on the cards PCB & go search for drivers at work or a mates house etc.

** You won't do damage if you are reasonably carefull - things are robust enough in there.

its not a removable one by the looks of it.
opened it up before and all i could see were serial numbers. no make or model or anything.it came with computer

To be honest i know im gonna have to upgrade it (to record music on homestudio prograamme). And may do this at the w/e.
As u can tell im new to all this and have never installed a soundcard. i take it its fairly foolproof.(also any ideas what price range i would be looking at for a suitable one?)

    any help greatly appreciated!

    Beans,
If it is not removable, it is build into the motherboard. What is the make and model?
