Can anyone tell me do these "video sender" devices work well? How good a quality of picture? And are there ones that will allow you to use the Sky remote in the room you send it to?

Also, though technically wrong forum:( I need a TV for a second room (where hopefully I'll be "sending" Sky). Would you advise me to get a CRT or LCD? I dont want to spend too much, so in a sense I suppose Im answering my own question.....:)

    thanks

    k

They all let the Sky remote work.

The picture is virtually as good as a composite video cable, better than ordinary TV RF. Also it is stereo. You can use them even just for audio. No stereo on RF from Digibox.

I use a pair Weltech units from Lidl, they work via the Scart. Good sound and picture. A bonus find I made just the other day, if you turn off the sky box via the remote whatever aerial/cable channel the TV is on comes through the sender.

Also if Skybox in standby and VHS/DVDPVR on Sky VHS SCART will be fed to video sender!

Thanks everybody, sounds good. Cheapest in argos is around €50. Any need to spend more?

Also, any info on the device in Argos which says it will turn your VHS or DVD recorder into a PVR if you plug it into the scart socket. How? Will it change the epg at the correct time, and how are they best connected? Theyre around €65.

If you set the Sky Personal planner it "wiggles" the SCART control voltage on the VCR SCART which will start some VCRs recording.

A PVR really implies a hard Drive, not a VHS driven by Digibox. :)

Some gadgets plugged in to Sky VCR SCART can either send a channel change to Sky box or command to VHS or even both. I'm NOT familiar with the device you mention.

That cheap one you mention in Argos, I assume it's the Philex one. I have one of them, and although they do the job, picture can be fussy and the remote sensor didn't always work. I'd say you'd be better going for one with an adjustable antenna.

I like/use the 'Digisender' brand, I suppose they are as good/bad as the rest, you will pay more for it thought.
