Bringing your dog on holidays

I was wondering if it is possible to bring your dog to Europe with you on holidays? Is there still a six month quarantine to bring him back into the country or is it possible to get one of those dog passports?
Any help would be appreciated.. :)

I was watching the news not so long ago and a lady brought her dog with her, cost double what she paid to bring her dog with her on the flight and i think €50 for the dog passport. Im not 100% sure though.

I was thinking more along the line of bringing him on the ferry, landbridge through England so he's not in cooped up too long....... :)
