    I really cant ever get into role playing games at all - i find them too boring, i didnt even like fable and i really tried cuz of all the positive things i heard about it.

    so after reading the oblivion reviews alot of them say whether you are a fan of the genre or not you should get it. I also rarely have enough time to play them and i gather you need to put alot into them to get anything out of them??

    someone give me some unbiased advice please! :)

    No! - it's a huge, sprawling RPG – complete with hours filled with organising inventories. If you don't have lots of time to spare and don't like RPGs to begin with - I'd say stay clear.

    A friend of mine (Ciaran500) despised RPGs with a passion (and he has tried the majority of the big ones) , but he seems to be enjoying Oblivion a lot (except for his CTDs). He will come along soon enough and tell you for himself, but I think he played Fable; and similarly it failed to grab his attention.

    Still waiting for mine to arrive, but everything points to it being a worthy purchase for fan and flouter alike.

    ah just what i needed - different opinions :D

    what are CTD's by the way?

    I am tempted to get it and if it does manage to hold my attention im sure i could find the time to play it properly! if not, ill just flog it on boards

    i last tried Knights of the old Republic II but that soon lost its appeal to me (before i even managed to craft my own lightsabre) but was the closest thing to get my attention but i know this is a different type of rpg (i.e. player controlled combat)

    cheers for the feedback anyway lads :)

    CTD = Crash To Desktop.

    Obviously Oblivion will have all the basic elements of an RPG, so if you hate the fundamental properties of one (IE, the slower pace than your usual FPS) then it won't be for you, if you have been somewhat interested in other RPGs then Oblivion may just have that somthing extra that allows you to get more into it. I struggled for a while to get into KOTOR.

    i see what you are saying - as long as it has the auto level up feature i think it wont be so bad! and it seems a tad darker than the likes of fable - dont get me wrong, i used to love games like zelda on the 64, just seems those type of games are aimed at a younger audience these days....hopefully oblivion has some darker action in it :)

    He speaketh the truth. When ever I start getting bored of trawling through dungeos (doesn't take long) there's always something new to do, people to find and houses to rob. I've got completley engrossed in this world, haven't stopped playing since I got it and even think about it when I stop playing. :o
