I paid more in the vintage car to enter the Trim show a few years ago than if I'd parked in the spectator car which was in the same field:mad: I haven't gone back. I don't mind paying in if the proceeds are for charity but paying more than a spectator is not on.
Celbridge used to be pay in for exhibitors as is Terenure although you get a nice china plate for attending that show.
Shows down the country tend to free in for exhibitors. Best show for exhibitors I've seen is Mountbellew in Galway. Free entry, Brass plaque, its held in the mart grounds and they open the canteen for a proper cooked dinner or they provide a free shuttle bus in to Mountbellew town and its well marshalled.

It's wrong that exhibitors have to pay into shows, without them there would be no show!

When I attended the Mosney Show back in 2000, with my Manta, there was no charge in, you were give a commemorative (metal!) plaque AND free tea and sandwiches !

I though all these shows were charity events !

I know its hard to understand why exhibitors have to pay but the simple fact is that the organisers have costs to cover in advance and since they cant predict the weather or who is going to show up the only thing they CAN get a handle on is the exhibitors !

They can tell in advance how many are coming and make the decision to call it off or not !

Personally I dont care what the cost in is for exhibitors once its for charity. Its the least I can do and it makes it all the more worthwhile if I get a free cuppa and a sambo. I dont care much for the plaques or whatever !

Just remember nobody makes a profit from these events, save for the various vendors, but even they have to pay towards the charity !

Without the car owners these charities would suffer, and if you look at the amount of average shows, or the wet day shows, all you need is one glorious sunny day to make up for it !

A few quid is a small price to pay to bask in the sunshine and look at exotic/rare/pristine cars !

Unfortunately my Pagoda wont be at any of the shows this year but I'll still be there on the Mercedes Club stand !

How do the non pay events (Kilbeggen) manage to work things out? Perhaps there could be a fill in the form thing.

Personally I do: I stretched myself to buy my car...a lot. It hurts my wallet to put fuel in it, parts are expensive, but I get great help from a friend with work on it. My daily driver suffers terribly at the expense of the stang, the cost is a BIG issue for me (not trying to put on the poor mouth here).

Last charity show I went to I spent €50 on fuel, some random value on repairs and then the guy at the gate was trying to charge me and my passenger for entry for two people  , he said its for charity. If you we're having a charity coffee morning would you be charged to bring the biscuits, that you made?

Agree totally, a few quid. Normally I'll throw in whatever into the bucket, I'm not a mean guy, honest :D

.......in this case there are no costs. The guy who owns the land is in the Club and it was his decision to hold the shows !

..........okay but nobody has asked you to go ! Its voluntary ! If you dont like spending the money then dont go, you wouldn't be charged for the biscuits but it would cost you to make them !

The other thing to bear in mind is that there are a lot of people who give up their time for days before and all day during these events just to organise it ! We appreciate the results but rarely thank any of them ! Its all voluntary for them !

Yep, agree with you there, a lot of the shows I don't go to, distance(=cost), but I try to go to what I can, I normally have a great time
