buying a banjo (first timer)

    i play the guitar and am interested in playing the Banjo.Som im looking at picking up a cheap second hand banjo.

    Any suggestions on what to look for and roughly what price would i be lookin at. (any new ones ive seen in shops are expensive)

    I bought new a Fender FB54 5-string for about $300. It's a very high quality instrument for the price. If you can find one used, I'd recommend it.

    There's a place on capel street on the oposite side to that DJ store... could be Goodwins. I remember seeing some 4 and 5 string banjo's in there for great prices tho' that was a good while back.
