So, anyone else picked it up yet? I haven't had time to do more than skim through it yet, but to anyone that has started reading it properly, what are the main rule differences you've found so far?

    I've been reading.

It's not very different from 1st ed, by the looks of things. The combat is different, certainly. But by the looks of things it won't take 10 minutes to resolve one melee action any more. That is, as long as everyone knows how it works, it seems a little complex.

The charms have changed a little too, to adapt to the new combat. The Excellency charms are new, though. I like them. They can go with any ability and allow you to add more dice to the pool, ad more successes to the pool, or reroll and take the best result.

Apart from thet, the main book is mostly the 1st ed. core book and player's guide mashed together and tidied up (the combat partuicularly), with little tidbits from other books. The storyteller's companion book is a sort of "lite" book for the other Exalted, at least for using them as detailed antagonists. I think using the original books should still be possible with a little work.

Oh, and instead of a little story at the start of a chapter, it's a comic strip. With very, very pretty artwork.

I like it. I'm itching to run a game soon.

As I said, I've skimmed through it, and already read the cartoons :)

Right now I'm running an Abyssal campaign (with the Abyssal version of the Mystery Men :D ) and waiting for our Solar campaign to restart. We've no plans to convert to 2nd ed any time soon, but I figure there will probably be some stuff we can lift into the 1st ed games.

I've read through combat again, and realised it only looked complicated because I was half asleep at work while reading it the first time. :) It's very similar to the power combat in the old Player's Guide, but clearer. Armour is good, but not impregnable. Artifact armour is very tough (you'll need several damage successes to even penetrate and start damaging the bloke beneath), but still not indestructible to anyone not mortal.

Dodging, parrying, and associated charms have been clarified a lot, particularly regarding combos. The instructions for making combos seem a lot easier to read this time round, as well.

I also love the Social Combat section. Well, after I stopped giggling at the concept of using multiple attacks, defensive listening, and counterattacks in a conversation. It makes a lot of sense, and will help no end in the court intrigue side of games.

The book is growing on me more and more. It just seems more accessible, all round.

Oh, and grand daiklaves are a bit less hideously lethal. Queue screams of "OMG HAX!!!!1" from my players when I start up that Dragon-Blood campaign again... :)

I never thought the combo rules were that bad. That being said, I don't have any.

That could be very useful to me. Our Exalted game is restarting soon, and my Eclipse has many, many plans to get moving in Nexus :D

*chuckles* If I can find a willing Dragonblood, I'm learning that Safety Amongst Enemies charm. Its very useful.
